Although we offer an Introduction to 4x4 half-day training course, our most popular courses are the ‘Challenge 4x4’ and ‘Adventure 4x4’ options.  All courses start with introductions and coffee, followed by a briefing on vital safety and technical information.  You will then drive onto some privately owned land within 5 minutes of the office to put those skills into practice, followed by some ‘green lane’ driving on the lanes of the northern Peak District and heart of the Pennines around Holmfirth.  Here you will encounter mud, water, rocky ground, side slopes, hills and bogs (depending on the time of year, of course).

‘Challenge 4x4’ is a one-day course, appropriate for beginners, novices or those with very little previous off-road experience.  Guided by an experienced instructor, after the initial briefing session you will drive to our purpose built off-road course using some 600-acres of privately owned land, with sections to suit both novice and more experienced drivers.  Here you will receive tuition on basic off-road driving skills and recovery techniques.  With a brief break for lunch, you will encounter all of the terrain as described above for the ‘taster’ and much more, i.e. steeper hills, more mud, V-gulleys, deep ruts and woodland.

Our more advanced course is the ‘Adventure 4x4’, again a one-day course, but aimed at those who have already completed the ‘Challenge 4x4’, who wish to experience much rougher and tougher terrain.  This course covers self-recovery techniques, including winching, hi-lift jacks etc, in much more detail.

After each completed full-day course, we provide a Completion Certificate and a Skills Booklet, and we also take digital photographs throughout the day, as a reminder of the best bits!
